John Chapman was an old schoolmate of Haig’s brother, Garbis. There is an epic tale of exploration and discovery that we have all heard a few times about when the two Uregian brothers joined with their university colleagues to drive across Europe in a tiny jeep.

One of the most surreal birthdays I can remember. Undeterred by the war-like riots and tear gas in Central Athens by those demonstrating against austerity measures, Haig holds his 70th birthday party at the Churchill Room, in Athens’s legendary Grande Bretagne Hotel.
How else to fully enjoy a get together at home with friends and family.
Intended as a bucket list trip to “swim with the dolphins”, Haig realised he was on the wrong side of Florida for this kind of thing. So he settled for the next best thing, namely drinkies on the beach, pictured here with Em, his daughter-in-law.
