John Chapman was an old schoolmate of Haig’s brother, Garbis. There is an epic tale of exploration and discovery that we have all heard a few times about when the two Uregian brothers joined with their university colleagues to drive across Europe in a tiny jeep.

A Drive to Seattle

Haig wanted to experience a North American roadtrip so we rented a car and drove from Vancouver to Seattle. I remember the trip being full of laughs, stopping along the way for gas, corn and sometimes beer. This was Haig in his element, exploring, when he wasn’t napping, that is.

During his visit to Vancouver the weather was exceptionally good and we visited many of Vancouver’s surrounding natural excursions. I believe this is Rice Lake, we also visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Mount Seymour.

Haig once travelled across Europe in a jeep with his brother Garbis and a few of his schoolmates. In 2005 Haig was able to reunite with Johnathon Yardley, who he hadn’t seen since 1965.
